Final Assessment

I think the best post I did with voice is: Dust and Decay by Jonathan Maberry (Zombie book). For my voice I tried to type it as I was saying it which is a little weird but it helped me. For example I did this,  "The only bad thing is that I'm trying not to become attached to any of the characters much because they could die at any second so it's kind of like The Walking Dead". I actually said this outloud when I typed this. I also used this, "so it's kind of like..." to make it sound like someone talking. I know I say that a lot when I talk with my friends. I also believe I use a lot of commas. Becuase of my writing you cna infer that my personality is mostly laid back. For example I don't use a lot of elevated diction because I never use it. but I do use commas because I don't stay on topic for a very long time.

For my diction I used a lot of casual diction becuase that is how I talk. If I used informal it wouldn't sound like me. I know I used "so it's kind of like..." becuase that is how I talk without thinking. For syntax I used a lot of declarative syntax, "There have been a lot of tricky situations that thinking wasn't possible so the characters had to think fast and go with it". For syntax patterns I used moslty 3 patterns; Simple sentence, compound sentence, and complex sentences. A typical sentence I used in this post would be this, "I just finished the book and let's not waste time, it was awesome". This is a compound sentence and it is how I talk.

Before Reading Flesh and Bone by Jonathan Maberry

I am going to start reading the 3rd book of this series and I am really excited to read it. There was a cliff hanger at the end so I wonder how it will start. I can infer that this book will hav a lot of more poeple vs. zombie rather than people vs. people based on the summary of this book. If it is people vs. zombie I can also infer that the syntax to the story will have a lot more staccato structure and lots of short sentences. I can already feel it getting intense. Hopefully none of the characters I like will die. I also have a lot of questions too like: What will happen when the group finds what they're looking for? Will the characters become stonger or weaker? If they don't find what they're looking for, what will happen next? Maybe the book will answer the some of my question. So here is my question for you. If you are reading a series right now, how did your book start? Did you like it?

I just finished the book and let's not waste time, it was awesome. I thought it was a perfect ending of the book and I can't wait to read the next book because there was some forshadowing. I would recomend this to anyone who likes and adventure, I think the characters might have been in a new place every chapter. I think the thematic statement would be this: go with your gut. There have been a lot of tricky situations that thinking wasn't possible so the characters had to think fast and go with it. The only bad thing is that I'm trying not to become attached to any of the characters much because they could die at any second so it's kind of like The Walking Dead. But one of the good things is that if you don't like a certain character then they could also die at any second so you don't have to deal with them anymore. So I hope you are interested in this book(this series starts with Rot and Ruin, this is the second book out of four).

Dust and Decay by Jonathan Maberry: Character Symbols

Tom- I would say that what best symbolizes Tom is a textbook. He never does anything bad or hurts anybodys feelings and when he does get into some trouble he follows his own rules that he has made for himself every time. He does everything perfectly.
Benny- What symbolizes Benny is a puppy. He often makes many mistakes but learns from them everytime, also he is unpredictable and causes trouble.
Nix- What symbolizes Nix is a brand new computer. You don't know what to expect and she is hard to figure out. Somtimes she's mad somtimes she's happy. And finally she is treated so delicately by Benny.
Chong- What symbolizes Chong is a child. He makes lots of mistakes. But because of his mistakes he is growing each day how to live in the world and starts to know things before they happen.
Lilah- Finally what symbolizes Lilah is a puzzle. I still can't figure her out but now that I've seen what she has done so I get her personality a little bit, just her personality. You can't guess what she does next, I've tried it many times and it doesn't end up like I imagined it.
Based on what I said about these characters what else can you think of to symbolize them?

The best thing about my book is that the author writes a bang or a cliffhanger every chapter making me wanting me to read more. There was two cliffhangers at the end of a chapter I read. This also keeps me interested because the author hints stuff in the middle of the chapter. But because there is so much stuff happening it's hard to remember everything like small things which lead to big things (I did have to reread some pages which I didn't like). Don't think that all of this ruines the book because it doesn't. So I would recommend this book to you.

I think the most improtant line is this, "The burn on Benny's shoulder felt white hot, and he was not 100 percent positive that the carpet coats had saved them from the teeth of the living dead." I think that this is the most important line of the chapter because Benny doesn't know if he has been infected or not by the zombie that bit him, and the whole book I think is about survival. Finding ways to live even if it is hard. I also think that this reveals somthing about Benny's character. I think that this reveals that he is determined. If he thought he had been infected and thought that he was going to die then he could've just given up and told his group to leave him, but instead he is not selfish and tries to help his group in any way possible. What else do you think this might reveal about himself?

Dust and Decay connections

The first connection I can make is a text to text connection, obviously this relates to The Walking Dead comic series. In both stories the world they are in is an apocolyptic taken over by zombies, and bothe deal with the struggles that they face. A text to world connection is when the government shut down. No zombies showed up but it did end the government although it didn't ruin ours completley. A text to self connection is a zombie themed run I did. A lot of people dressed up like zombies for this event and felt like real life.
